TASTC in the Community
TASTC is a charitable animal shelter whose purpose is to place adoptable companion animals in responsible homes. To accomplish this we worked hard from 2006 to present to increase awareness of the shelter, ultimately increasing adoptions to over 600 animals annually.
Spay & Neuter
We work in the community to educate the importance of spay and neuter programs. With local veterinarian support and through the Henry Wrinkles Foundation TASTC sponsors quarterly low cost spay and neuter assistance programs for our community and beyond. To date we have helped spay and neuter over 125 animals in and around our county. In 2011 TASTC was awarded a "matching funds" grant through the Two Mauds Foundation. TASTC had to secure local funding from city municipalities and funding would be matched. We are happy to announce with cooperation from the cities of Cabool, Licking, and Houston we were also able to help spay and neuter over 200 animals from the area.
Humane Education
TASTC welcomes the opportunity to work with local children's groups and or schools. Presentations are given at preschools, public elementary schools, libraries, churches and health and safety fairs. If you would like to arrange for an educator to visit your school or organization, or schedule a shelter tour please contact TASTC at: texascountyanimals@hotmail.com.
Employment Assistance
TASTC works with MERS Goodwill who aims to provide opportunities for persons with barriers to employment to work and live more independently in the community. We have also participated with Experience Works who provide worker training and employment opportunities to mature and disadvantaged individuals. We work locally with drug court, provide community service oppertunities and host Houston educational job shadowing programs.
